On 28th October 2025, I had the opportunity to meet Provost Sir Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi, in a session focused on student concerns.
During that discussion, I raised an issue that every university in Pakistan needs to pay attention to.
Our students have almost zero industrial exposure.
We spend four years learning theories, writing reports, and passing exams. But when it is time to enter the industry, many graduates find themselves lost.
They hold a degree but not the direction.
They have knowledge but no idea how to apply it in the real world.
This gap hurts both the students and the industry.
I also proposed the idea of introducing professional grooming and industry-readiness workshops.
Sessions that can help students learn:
How to communicate with their teams
How to manage people working under them
How to interact with higher management
How to carry themselves in a professional environment
These are not optional skills. These are survival skills that define how far someone can go in their career.
It is time universities evolve.
Education should not end at classrooms. It should prepare students to handle real challenges, make smart decisions, and create impact from day one.
We need stronger partnerships between academia and industry, more mentorship opportunities, and a system that values practical exposure as much as grades.
The future belongs to those who can connect knowledge with execution.
That is where we need to raise our game.
